Feather Bracelet
A Rainmaker Gallery classic, this beautiful feather bracelet is expertly handcrafted from sterling silver by Harvey Chavez of the Kewa Pueblo tribe in northern New Mexico USA. This beautiful feather bracelet measures 19mm in width and would best fit a medium female or small male wrist. It is not adjustable.
Silver feathers
Harvey Chavez makes exquisite feather jewellery. Each feather is entirely handmade, skilfully formed from sterling silver, each unique in size, shape and detail. Every line is individually stamped using a homemade stamp and each feather is carefully shaped, polished and signed. As well as bracelets Harvey and his wife Janie make feather rings, earrings, pendants, brooches, hair clips, bolo ties and necklaces.
Harvey Chavez also expertly handcrafts beads in the traditional way of his tribe. From tiny heishi beads to fine wafer cuts, every stone is expertly hand cut, drilled and polished from natural materials such as turquoise, coral, pipestone, black jet, serpentine or shell. This traditional skill is rapidly disappearing from the tribe.
Harvey Chavez is committed to practising the techniques learned from his parents, grandparents and great grandparents. He has passed these skills to his children and grandchildren in the hope that this knowledge will survive into future generations. Rainmaker Gallery is delighted to also carry the work of Harvey and Janie’s two daughters, Kayleen and Dana Chavez.
The Chavez family have been making beautiful jewellery for Rainmaker Gallery for almost thirty years. We are deeply honoured to bring you the work of this talented family.
